PICNIC TO SHANTHIVAN

It has been the Sangam’s endeavor to provide space and time for the members every year to catch up with each other, playing fun games, unwinding and refreshing their Tamil. This year too the Sangam organized a Picnic to Shanthivan, a picnic resort on the banks of the Kadakavasala lake. There was something for every age group to do, enjoy the ambiance of the resort and have sumptuous food.

For the convenience of the members who were 78 in all the Sangam arranged two buses to take them to Shanthivan and back. We reached the resort by 9.30 am and started the day with a good breakfast of Idly and poha along with coffee or tea to wash it down. There were party games for the young and old and field games for the fit and adventures.

After two hours of games a break for lunch was what everyone was looking for. The lunch menu was descent with Barleli wangi and jelabi being the favourites. Members explored the resort after lunch and the facilities it provided like children park , coin Rides, bird gallery, aquarium, exhibition of sea shell, science models, rabbit House, waling pathway, rope climbing, flying fox, Burmah bridge and commando bridge double rope.

For some it was a pause before another round of fun games started. The grand finale was a round of Housie which brought some tremendous excitement to the event. By now it was tea time and the members enjoyed the bajias with tea. Since good all things should come to an end it was time to head home with pleasant memories of the day.
