Bharatiyar Vizha on 05.12.2021

After a forced hiatus of 18 months due to Covid epidemic, PCTS arranged a variety entertainment evening on the 5th. Dec. of 2021. The theme for the event was Bharatiyar Vizha as this year is the centennial death anniversary of the great poet . Professor Parveen Sultana , an ace and erudite speaker on Bharatiyar was the chief guest .

After lighting the lamp , to follow a tradition , the chief guest in her hour-long speech on ' Perithunum Perithu Kell' dwelt on Mahakavi's thoughts , patriotism and his teachings as also how they are relevant even today, hundred years after his death .

On either side of the speech two groups performed enchanting dances based on the poet's songs . It was thrilling to see how the budding artists choreographed to the tuneful music of Bharatiyar songs . The appreciative audience were regaled to the mellifluous voice of Ms. Shreya Hariharan Iyer with her songs of the poet .

The PCTS committee also took this opportunity to honour Golu Competition winners with awards and certificates . It also publicly called and gave cash awards to two outstanding girls of SVS Union School for their outstanding academic performances in std.X . This award has been instituted by our committee member , Mr. Pandithurai and shall be awarded annually for the meritorious students .

Overall , the event was a grand success . Many in the audience gave excellent reviews as feedback.
